Old Time Quarter Horses with

* BEAUTY

* BRAINS

* BRAWN

We have been breeding Quarter Horses for 15 years. Before that and up until present we studied, through every resource we could get our hands on, the many family trees of the Quarter Horse.

We are not sold on the modern day "fad" horses of today. It seems to us some breeders are trying to undo what others the previous 50 years were trying to perfect.

We have sold a few foals locally the last ten years, but we think we have produced future athletes with sound minds and bodies, color, conformation, that become great additions to a family. We would love to show you what we have to offer.
We are dedicated to the preservation of the Quarter Horse.
We have produced what we feel is pretty close to the Quarters of yesteryear:

- Medium to heavy muscling
- Heavy bone top to bottom with a good foot as the foundation
- Good heads, both seen and unseen
- Larger bodied, yet retaining fluidity in movement
- Working and willing attitudes that have the passion to chase a cow or a can with the speed to do it
- Versatile Athletes that stay sound
- Minds that make them part of the family

They can pull your buggy to church in the morning and win the match race in the town square in the afternoon, then rope a wild cow that evening back at home after the plowing is done.

We DON'T believe in semen, cooled or frozen, shipped here and there and everywhere. Frozen semen from horses long since retired or dead, the farming of eggs from mares are used where ever in the name of making a buck. We are horrified by the "Cloning" of so-called greats, not much dignity shown to these beautiful gifts of God. The adverse genetic affects will be left in the breed forever.

We Do believe in breeding the natural way - live cover, in the pasture when possible, and giving mares a year or two off now and then as well as having daily contacts with Stallions right along with the Show Mounts. Raising the foals in large groups out in open and safe pastures and breeding responsively. We raise only a few foals each year from mares with the desirable traits and breeding which is the most important, and then a Stallion which out crosses their bloodlines with hybrid vigor as our goal.

About Us

Walt & Sharon Hokanson along with their children, Ben & Michelle Hokanson, Tom & Ashley Wilde, Jessica Hokanson share a love for animals and believe that they are gifts from our Heavenly Father. They are on loan to us for our time here on earth and it is our sacred obligation is to be good stewards over them while they are in our care. We not only raise a few good colts & fillies each year, we usually have a few steers around, raise Australian Shepherd Working Dogs, always have a flock of Old English Bantam chickens around, have way too many cats, and a spoiled Shih Tzu named Charlie who runs the place. We seem to always have a horse or two in training, usually for Barrels, Western Pleasure, Reining, and Working Cowhorse. Sharon, Ashley, and Jessica enjoyed showing at several different levels and are always looking to improve their skills, and love teaching the horses new things as they themselves learn.

Walt's passion is raising a few foals each year with a goal towards raising an individual to be the best he can be, trusting in genetics to get a foal started, and treating them with dignity as they learn to co-exist with the Human, a natural enemy to the horse. Walt has studied the origin, breeding, and genetics that make the quarter horse what it is today and believe the industry may have taken a step or two back the last few years. We breed horses naturally, never for Quantity and "always for Quality", and believe totally in the words "Out Cross" and the phrase "Hybrid Vigor".

Please study the versatile pedigrees and photos of our horses with their working type of Conformations, which will Halter. Combine that with beautiful Roan coloring, which are never two colored alike, and that will always get you noticed wherever you find yourself. We hope to furnish you with your next prospect for your horse addictions.
