This
mare really is a treasure. The first
time we rode this horse in the mountains chasing cows it seemed as if she’d
already been there and done that.
Rocks, down timber and steep hills didn’t even faze her, and she was calm and
easy to handle in the brush and heavy timber. “Coon”
is a horse you can trust and from having had her in some pretty tight situations
I know she is one who will take good care of you in rough country.
Check out “Coon’s” papers.
She’s bred to do well in the arena and certainly knows how to chase a
cow, but she is a “using kind of horse” too. Unfortunately
we got a late start with this filly and have not entered her in any futurities,
but she does know her way around the arena, loping good circles, giving nice
laterally as well as through her topline and picking up her front end for a nice
turnaround. With summer work coming on,
we ended up using her outside quite a bit moving cows on the forest and riding
mountain trails. Coon is very
willing and good-minded as well.
Highlights:
1)
This mare is by the popular Open Spear horse, Sugar Cat Nic.
Sugar Cat Nic was injured and never shown, but his sire, was that grand
old horse, Reminic, whose story we all know.
2)
Here’s a horse you can win on in the arena and take to the hills the next day to
get a job done.
